Software for von Mises Elasto-Plastic model

Distribution of von Mises stress for crankshaftThe solution to huge engineering problems is the main current issue. It puts the accent on the size of solving nonlinear problem but also on the accuracy of results and how the result corresponds to the reality.

The machinery industry and its related divisions deal with the material nonlinearities including von Mises associated plasticity model with isotropic or kinematic hardening or even perfect plasticity, almost every day. This software package allows to compute all those possibilities from two point of view on this problem. The user can choose the incremental or nonincremental method for computing stress states which are the most important phenomena for the industry.

The software is used to solve nonlinear problems which lead to associated plasticity. It is based on the Newton method, which has the quadratic convergence if the tangential stiffness matrix is used. Due to this option the Newton method will make calculations faster at the rate of tens of percent and also decrease the computation time.

This software package combines different types of hardening and different approaches to computing stress states mentioned above. It computes the tangential stiffness matrices, the vectors of right hand side, the stress state, and also the values of hardening for each triangles in 2D, tetrahedrons, and hexahedrons in 3D.

This software allows using by the Total-FETI method. This method is one of the non-overlapping domain decomposition methods and it is currently very interesting due to parallel approach.

The software package is divided into 8 software groups which deal with running each computation part. It includes software for solvers, assembly objects in 2D for triangles, in 3D for tetrahedrons and hexahedrons, visualization of results, iterative solvers with option of preconditioning, objects for preconditioning, as well as the generator of input data. Their list and exact title are:

  8. Computation software for solving associated elastoplasticity (von Mises model) – generator of input data.
